A Daily Telegraph investigation has revealed students are resisting the low fat menus and private canteen operators are battling to survive with higher labour and ingredient costs.

Obesity: Childhood Obesity on Govt Radar (ACT)

Childhood obesity will be the "single biggest issue" facing governments in years to come, ACT Health Minister Katy Gallagher has said. She admitted the efforts of the ACT Government had not been as coordinated as they should have been, but hoped to rectify that with yesterday's launch of an initiative to tackle the problem.

Obesity: too much cheap food has its price

Developed countries are increasing their calorie consumption at an alarming rate which is leading the country to a serious obesity problem.

Four Harvard researchers have set their sights on a research project which aims to discover the causes of the increasing problem. The researchers believe we are getting fatter mainly because we are consuming more calories: more fast foods, more cakes and biscuits and more fizzy drinks. There is a shift away from physical activity as technological innovations and socio-demographic factors have come into play.
